Frostpunk, the icy city-building simulation from 11-bit Studios is coming to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One later this year. The Console Edition will be a tuned adaptation of the PC version and will contain all the previous, free updates.

The Polish developer 11-bit Studios have officially announced that their gritty simulation of society survival Frostpunk is coming to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One later this year.

In their announcement, the developer say that Frostpunk: Console Edition will be "a finely tuned adaptation" of the PC version with a couple of additions.

At the moment, there is no specific release date, but the studio is aiming to deliver post-apocalyptic winter sometime in Summer 2019. "We don’t want to reveal the exact release date yet, but I can say that the game should be out in the summer," says lead designer Kuba Stokalski.

Frostpunk: Console Edition will include all the previous free updates from the PC version including The Fall of Winterhome scenario, additional customization options, difficulty settings, and balance tweaks. On top of that, the devs also plan to bring additional content in the future updates.

11-bit studios say they put a great effort to re-design the game and adjust its mechanics for consoles, especially when it comes to controls. They say there is still some work to do, including an intuitive interface, but the development is very close to the finish line.

Frostpunk is a pretty complex game in terms of options and controls, just like most of the city-building simulators, so it will be interesting to see how 11-bit studios reworked these to suit the controllers.

If you're unfamiliar with Frostpunk, the critically acclaimed strategy originally launched on PC back in April 2018. It set in a post-apocalyptic frozen world and it follows a group of survivors who establish their settlement around a steam-powered generator.

You, as their leader, must do everything to keep the city warm and safe from extremely low temperatures as the final storm approaches.

At the moment, Forstpunk has very positive reviews on Steam and Metascore on Metacritic stands at 84, same as user score.
