Since its global launch, Where Winds Meet has built a dedicated following thanks to its deep combat system and expansive world. The Hexi expansion launches globally on March 6 and is the game's most ambitious update yet - and it also brings an entirely new Martial Arts path: Bamboocut Dust, built around the Everspring Umbrella and the Unfettered Rope Dart. The two gear sets below were designed with that path in mind, though neither is exclusive to it.
Stars Align - Weapon Set
The new offensive weapon set introduced in Hexi, Stars Align is built around a multi-target, repositioning-heavy playstyle, and is the recommended weapon set for Everspring Umbrella and Unfettered Rope Dart players.
The 4-piece bonus triggers when you hit at least two enemies simultaneously, or hit a boss or player - you gain one stack of Stars Align. Each stack lasts five seconds, increases Martial Art Skill damage by 3%, and adds further bonus damage against enemies more than four metres away, scaling up to an additional 1% at eight metres. It stacks up to five times, but one stack is removed each time you take a hit, so staying aggressive and avoiding damage is what keeps it at full strength. Up to two stacks can be gained per second.
Players who stay mobile and punish from range should find this set consistently near maximum stacks. The more targets you're pressuring and the more distance you maintain, the more the damage scaling pays off. It's a natural fit for the Everspring Umbrella's throw-and-reposition loop - the umbrella keeps you mobile and regularly hits multiple enemies as you cycle through Scarlet Spin. The Rope Dart feeds it well too, with Soul Sweep and the follow-up Charged Skill hitting multiple targets in quick succession.
Jade Embrace - Armour Set
The new defensive armour set for Hexi, and the recommended armour for Bamboocut Dust players - though it works well for any mobile build that relies on frequent dashes or repositioning rather than holding ground.
The 4-piece bonus activates when you move more than six metres within one second, reducing HP and Qi damage taken by 15% for five seconds. Triggers once every 20 seconds.
The threshold is generous enough that it activates naturally during normal combat movement - and particularly so with the Everspring Umbrella, whose teleport mechanic regularly covers significant distance in a single action, and the defensive window tends to line up with the moments you're repositioning after a throw.
