Vampirism is a disease that hits without too much warning in The Elder Scrolls: Oblivion Remastered. In this guide, we will show you how to get rid of it without playing a lengthy side quest.

One of the worst afflictions you can burden yourself with in The Elder Scrolls: Oblivion Remastered, the latest RPG from Bethesda Softworks, is without doubt vampirism, a disease that gets very annoying as its symptoms worsen.

You'll know you have the vampirism if you start taking damage once you set foot outside during the day, and once this happens, you'll have to act quickly if you don't want the illness to progress to the point where mere potions won't cut it any more, and that will happen if you don't act within three days once you get vampirism.

If this happens, do not despair because there is a way to get rid of this affliction. To be more precise, there are multiple ways, including doing a very long quest and praying at some shrines. However, those options are not the best ones due to their many side effects.

How to get rid of vampirism without doing a quest

As we mentioned before, one of the ways to get rid of vampirism is to do a long quest, but since this quest is very long and requires a lot of items to collect, if your illness progressed too far, you wouldn't be able to do it because the merchants wouldn't want to speak with you because they would be afraid of you—you're a vampire, after all.

The first signs of vampirism are the sunburns, and if this happens, you should try and heal using a cure disease potion; if this doesn't help, it means 72 hours have passed and you're officially a vampire. Being a vampire isn't half bad, really. If you become one, you'll get many bonuses, resistances, and abilities, but with a huge con: you won't be able to step outside during the day, and people will run away from you, making the game way too harder than it is supposed to be.

The easiest way to get rid of this disease is to visit the Font of Renewal, which is located in Deepscorn Hollow, a little island on the far southern part of the map. If you haven't yet visited this location, fast-travel to Leyawiin and walk to the island shown on the map above.

Once you're there, you'll be prompted to follow the Deepscorn Hollow quest. Make it as active, and it will lead you between two broken towers near the shore. Dive between them and enter the location through a huge log on the bottom of the sea.

Once inside, go left towards Deepscorn Cloister—you can check it on the map. From there, go south and you'll reach Font of Renewal. It is a large pillar located inside a pond of water, and if you try to interact with it, you'll be prompted to get some purgeblood salt. Luckily, this material is located in the same room. Check out one of the corners and get some. Once you have it, return to the pillar and interact with it.

This time, with purgeblood salt, the game will ask you if you wish to get rid of vampirism. Choose the positive answer, and you'll be a vampire no more.
