Mortal Shell 2: How To Unlock Sester Genessa's Shell

Shells are a core part of Mortal Shell 2's identity. Harbinger, the game's main character, can possess different shells found across the world and use their unique abilities in combat.

To unlock shell locations on the map, head to Zhirelle, the Shellkeeper at Marrow Keep, who can point you toward shells scattered across the world. Most can also be found organically through exploration alone. Doing so via Zhirelle costs Glimpse, a finite resource you'll want to save for shell upgrades. Proxima and Tiel are the exception, with their locations already marked on the map as soon as you arrive at Marrow Keep, so you don't need to spend any Glimpse to reveal them. You'll still need to go find and possess the shells yourself.

 If you'd rather not spend the Glimpse on a map marker, here's where to find Genessa's shell yourself.

Step 1: Head to the Revenant Graves

The item needed to unlock Genessa's shell is found in the Ruins of Mammon area, near a field called the Revenant Graves. The nearest beacon is Abbey Entrance, located east on the map. From there, head left to reach the area, where you'll find an interactable wall, marked below.

Step 2: Defeat Sester Secundus

Interacting with the wall transports you into a mini boss arena, where you'll need to fight Sester Secundus. Upon defeating her, you'll receive Sester's Censer.

Step 3: Return to Marrow Keep and give the censer to Sester Genessa 

With the censer in hand, head back to Marrow Keep and find Sester Genessa. Hand her the censer to unlock her Shell.

Unlike every other Shell, which gets upgraded through the Shellkeeper, Genessa's upgrades come from Genessa herself, so she's who you'll want to revisit whenever you're ready to invest Glimpse into her. Handing over the censer unlocks her shell, but there's a twist: once you inhabit her shell as Harbinger, the Sester back in Marrow Keep becomes Stray Sester. Switch to any other shell, though, and she reverts to being Sester Genessa again.
