There are four totems in total to be found in Avowed, the latest action RPG from Obsidian Entertainment, each of them being linked to one of four in-game areas. Each time you reach a new map in the game, you'll be able to pursue its totem and the totem's fragments scattered all over the map.
Unlike the rest of the collectibles that are quite straightforward and somehow easy to find (you can even track their locations and progress through in-game maps), totems are pretty hard to complete because the clues that explain where to look for them are nothing more than very confusing riddles.
The other method of finding those is by simply stumbling upon them while exploring the world. Any method you use, the fact remains: it will be extremely hard to locate them all without the help. Totem of Revelations: the location of all its pieces, clues, and totem itself
The best way to locate the totem easily is to go for a document containing clues on its location; that should be the first step to take. The document can be bought from a merchant located inside Thirdborn. There are four merchants in the town; all of them are located in the market area, and one of them will sell you the document for 500 silver.
- Eyes of the Obscured
After acquiring the clue document, the first stop should be to acquire the totem base. The totem base, or Eyes of the Obscured, as it is called, is located inside the Shrine to Wael. To find this place, go to the west from Thirdborn, and you'll come across it. It is located inside the lower levels of the shrine; you cannot miss it. Check out the map below for reference.
- Ruby Eye
"On the ancient lakebed's edge, to the ruby eye, your word you will pledge." This clue doesn't say too much, to be honest, but if you head up the passage from behind the totem base in the shrine, you'll come across a strange character called Ward of the Eye. Speaking to her will give you Ruby Eye. It stands in front of her, but you cannot take it until you speak to her.
- Amethyst Eye
"Near a flame-scarred town lost to history, the amethyst eye dwells in a cave of mystery." Check our map below for the exact location. Keep in mind, however, that you must go to the lower section to the caves located near the burnt-down houses in Ancient Lakebed.
The easiest way to reach this location is to fast-travel to the Ancient Lakebed South beacon, head directly to the north, and then drop down to the caves below.
- Agate Eye
"Amidst sprawling ruins of the faithless of old, the agate eye has waited for years untold." If you try to analyse this riddle, you can make some conclusions about what the faithless could mean. If you didn't make it out on your own, head for the Sand Sea Ruins located in the most eastern part of the map.
Once you reach the location, climb your way to the tower, and then drop down to the entrance of the ruins, but do not enter yet; instead, go through the passage located exactly above the entrance to the ruins, and inside that room, you'll find Agate Eye.
- Sapphire Eye
"At the bottom of an oasis deep, the sapphire eye is yours to keep." This one is probably the easiest one to figure out because the riddle is not difficult at all. From the previous eye, go directly to the south until you reach the oasis; it is really hard to miss it. Once you get there, you'll unlock the fast-travel beacon as well.
Jump inside the oasis and dive to the bottom. There, you'll find the Saphire Eye waiting for you to pick it up.
- Emerald Eye
"The emerald eye rests on an unfinished likeness, not far from unnatural iciness." Figuring this one out gave us a real headache; we must confess. Since the unnatural iciness is mentioned, it is clear that you must go to Ryngrim's Domain because you'll find a frozen land here, and it is an unnatural, magically induced phenomenon.
Once you get there, you must search for the unfinished tower with some scaffolding attached to it. On top of that tower is the Emerald Eye next to a note and a corpse. The easiest way to find it is to fast-travel to the Shark Teeth Party camp, head several meters to the southeast, and you'll stumble upon it; it's practically unmissable.
- Topaz Eye
"Beneath a watery behemoth's ancient bones, the topaz eye awaits all alone." This eye will require you to go to the Leviathan's Hollow, which is located in the upper part of Shatterscarp, or at the farthest northwestern part of the map. Once you reach this area, you'll see a huge head standing above a pond. Dive into the pond and go through the mouth to enter the Leviathan's Hollow area.
Work your way all the way to the top to reach the place shown on the map below, and once you're there, you'll come across a huge leviathan's skeleton, and beneath it a table with a corpse leaning to it containing the Topaz Eye.
Once you collect all the totem fragments, fast travel to any camp, put the totem on the pedestal, and activate it. It will give you some nice buffs and make your journey through Living Lands at least a bit easier.
