Among the many techniques available in Starfield, lockpicking is a crucial skill that will help you access valuable loot hidden within locked areas. This video guide will provide you with a step-by-step demonstration of how to do it.

Starfield, Bethesda's newest RPG, offers a plethora of gaming mechanics and a wide array of diverse activities to engage in.

One of these mechanics involves lockpicking, where you utilise a unique tool called "digipicks" that employs a fascinating method for unlocking locks.

If you want to learn the art of efficient lockpicking, we've put together a simple step-by-step guide along with a brief video demonstration. So, without further ado, let's jump into it.

How to efficiently pick locks in Starfield

Your initial encounter with digipicks and the concept of lockpicking will occur quite early in the game, when you're presented with an optional objective to unlock a safe containing valuable items.

Prior to commencing the lockpicking procedure, you'll initially receive one digipick, and in case of an error, you'll find an additional three on the floor in front of the safe. As you begin the process, you'll notice circles with slots that align with the protrusions displayed in the lower right part of the screen.

Your objective is to align the provided circles in a way that ultimately unlocks all levels of the key. In case you make an error and need to backtrack, you have a limited number of corrections at your disposal. Once you've exhausted these corrections, the corresponding digipick will be rendered ineffective. Therefore, it's essential to carefully examine the lock and apply some basic problem-solving skills.

Since visual demonstrations often make understanding easier than explanations alone, we've created a brief video showcasing our initial successful attempt. You can view the video below.

Valuable loot awaits behind every secured safe and locked door, so it's wise to keep a few digipicks in your inventory, as you'll certainly require them. If you're interested, you can also explore additional Starfield content through the provided links below.
