Apart from its outstanding combat and gripping story, Sucker Punch Productions has placed a strong emphasis on exploration in Ghost of Yotei, the latest action-adventure title developed exclusively for PlayStation 5.
All over the huge map of Ezo, you'll be able to find lots of stuff, from different armour sets and skins for your weapons to Sumi-E painting locations, different songs, and much more. The exploration in Ghost of Yotei is definitely on a completely different level and is a huge upgrade in comparison to the previous game in the series, Ghost of Tsushima.
Finding all this stuff, especially if you like to finish your games 100 per cent and perhaps unlock that shiny Platinum trophy, will require a lot of time and effort, but the developers made sure that the experience is as engaging and smooth as it can be.
In this guide, we will show you what steps to take to make everything even smoother and what to do to be able to find every single collectable in the game completely on your own, without any need to look up on the internet for any specific location of any collectable. So without further ado, let's begin.
How to find everything in Ghost of Yotei
Get to the higher ground and use your spyglass
The spyglass is a new mechanic in Ghost of Yotei. Once you find yourself on the higher ground or a place with a view, pull out the spyglass (the up button on the D-Pad) and start scanning the area. When you come across a new location featuring a collectable, the crosshair will turn yellow and the controller will start vibrating. Hold for a couple of seconds, and the new location will be added to your map, simple as that.
Buy maps at the cartographer's
The cartographer will be located inside each map's safe area, usually an inn or a safe village. If the new map is available, there will be a red dot next to his icon. Visit him and buy a new map. Apart from the cartographer, maps can be given freely by NPCs, so make sure to talk to anyone who calls on you while exploring.
Once you have a new map, open the in-game map and press Square, then X on your controller, then find the corresponding location. If you cannot find it, simply wait for around ten seconds, and the game will point you to the right place on the map.
Get the Robes for Sitturaynu armour
This armour can be obtained only after you finish the first area of the game. Once you do, the game will give you the choice to go whenever you like to pursue any member of the Yotei Six.
If the exploration is on your mind, go to the Tokachi Range area and go right through it to pursue the Kitsune. This will lead you to Nayoro Wilds, where you'll meet huci. Follow her quest immediately upon entering the area, and as a reward, you'll get this armour.
This armour is equivalent to the previous game's Traveller Attire and will allow you to follow fireflies to certain collectables. Also, once upgraded, it will allow the Golden Bird to show you the location of all important collectables.
Compose new songs
Once you get previous armour, you'll be able to locate as many songs as possible, and every one of them will point you towards a specific collectable, activating the respective wind. Most songs are part of side missions, and all side missions can be located with the Golden Bird.
Once you obtain a certain song, simply play it by swiping the touchpad to the left, and after Atzu starts playing, follow the wind to the collectable.
Following those hints will let you find every single collectable without any need to look for certain guides to show you their locations. In this way, you'll be able to locate them all on your own.
