Team Ninja just surprised fans with news of a brand new expansion for Ninja Gaiden 4. The Two Masters DLC will be released on March 4 and includes new story missions as well as new gameplay options.
Players will receive access to three new story missions as well as completely new weapons for Ryu and Yakumo. New enemies and Trials are also included.
Also new is an extremely challenging mode dubbed Abyssal Road that will test even the most experienced players.
New Story Chapters and Weapons
In this DLC, Yakumo gets a brand new scythe called Solitaire that looks like it integrates with Bloodbind Ninjutsu, opening up new combo paths and brutal finishers.
Ryu Hayabusa also gets something new in the Jakotsumon, a set of Serpent Gauntlets that add a bit more of an in-your-face, close-quarters style to Ryu’s admittedly shallow arsenal. Enemies also get some variety in the form of a jetpack-wielding demon, and there are new Trials to experience as well.
Abyssal Road Challenge Mode
The most interesting seems to be Abyssal Road, which looks to be an all-new challenge mode taking place in Purgatory. Though little is known about it at this time, from what we've seen so far it appears to be something more than just enemies scaling up in toughness. There could be modifiers to combat or ever-growing trials to test your high end skill.
Pricing and Availability
The Two Masters DLC will cost $14.99 to purchase on its own, but it is bundled with the game's Deluxe Edition. Ninja Gaiden 4 is available now on Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC.
Made in partnership with PlatinumGames, Ninja Gaiden 4 is the series' fourth main installment and heralds the high-profile return of the classic hack-and-slash series.
