In Avowed, the latest action RPG from Obsidian Entertainment, you'll be able to obtain a huge number of weapons, including swords, axes, maces, staffs, daggers, and many, many others, and finding your perfect combination of weapons will sometimes be a very difficult task.
Apart from many weapons, you'll be able to obtain a lot of pieces of armour as well, and the good news is that every weapon can be upgraded, and if you prefer to carry even the most basic piece, you will be able to upgrade it to the max and make it as powerful as any unique weapon or armour you can find in the game.
If you, by any chance, do not know how to upgrade your equipment and how to obtain the upgrade materials needed for upgrading, we have a guide that will thoroughly explain this mechanic to you.
Avowed—Upgrading explained
As we said earlier, every weapon and piece of armour can be upgraded, but there is one small detail concerning the gear quality that has to be addressed right away. There are two types of gear in Avowed: common and unique, and there is a difference between these two.
Common gear can only be upgraded to the superb level (there are five levels of upgrading: common, fine, exceptional, superb, and legendary, and each level has three sublevels within it), while unique gear can be upgraded to the legendary level. Also, unique gear can have some unique characteristics, like fire, ice, or poison buildup embedded in them.
With that out of the way, it is time to explain the upgrading mechanic itself. You can upgrade your gear only inside camps. The camps are special places on the map you discover where you can upgrade your weapons and armour, speak to your comrades, and rest.
Inside each camp, you'll find a workbench, and there you'll be able to upgrade your gear. Lower levels of upgrades require more common materials, and as the quality goes up, the more unique and harder-to-come-by materials will be required.
Those materials can be found by exploring the world or by buying them from merchants, but they can also be crafted on the very same bench where you upgrade gear. All you must do is switch the tabs with the LB and RB buttons. Once inside the crafting tab, choose the material you require and craft it. The higher-quality materials are usually made out of several lower-quality ones. For example, if you want to craft a white steel chunk, you'll need four steel chunks, and steel chunks are made out of four iron chunks.
The materials can be gained from dismantling weapons as well, so do not miss picking up any weapon you find, even if it is low-quality one; if you won't be using it, you can dismantle it and gain some very useful materials in the process.
DON'T MISS!
