The world of Avowed is full of secrets to be found and mysteries to be uncovered, and in this segment, Obsidian Entertainment—the game's developers—truly hit the mark. The game's open world is so jam-packed with stuff that the exploration never gets boring.
While going out there to explore every nook and cranny, you'll certainly come across many locked doors; some of them will be locked with more traditional ways, like the actual keys (they can be lockpicked as well), while the others will feature some sort of puzzle machanizam to be solved to open those doors.
This is the case with the doors featuring shield insignias above them, and behind those doors, usually a very interesting loot awaits you, so if you don't know how to deal with those locks, here is a guide for you.
How to open doors with shield insignia above them
To open the shield doors, you'll have to unlock a certain ability or have a certain throwable in your inventory—both ways will work just fine. Those abilities are connected to your electric attack. Once you encounter such a door, look above it and try to follow the wires connected to the shield.
Sometimes there will be just one wire, and sometimes you'll encounter more of them; the number of wires represents the number of devices you'll have to shock with your ability or throwables. Follow the wires, and when you find the device on the other side, jolt it.
To do that, you must press the LB button on your controller and choose one of two options from the wheel. One way is to choose throwables and then the Epic Electric Lily Seed option and click on it—this will set this throwable to default. Once you do this, aim for the plate with RB and execute. Do this for all the plates, and the door should open.
The other option is to order one of your companions to do it for you. This ability will be available once you add Giatta to your party. Once you have her, go for the Spectral Jolt command in the wheel and press execute, and she will jolt the plate for you.
There's also the third option if you have a weapon with the electric status; if you hit the plate with this weapon, it will have the same effect as previous options.
