Blizzard have officially kicked off the Overwatch fan festival in South Korea, introducing a new control point map named after the country's capitol, Busan, and a brand new animated short on D.Va, in-game resident and defender of Busan.

It's no secret that Blizzard and South Korea are an ongoing love story in a persistent universe, wink wink, and it was perhaps only fitting to give some of that love back. While I'm not a huge fan of the company tooting their own horn by describing D.Va's as an in-game Starcraft 2 master, the animated short and CP Busan make up for it somewhat.

The short is called Shooting Star and it looks absolutely gorgeous, as you'd expect from Blizzard's animation department. In think we can all agree that when it comes to cinematics, nobody comes close to the Blizz, regardless of whether you're a fan of the company's game portfolio or not.

On a more personal note though, and disregarding the quality of animation itself, I've found D.Va's episode pretty underwhelming compared to the rest of Overwatch's roster. Disregard the visuals and it's a carbon copy or Reinhardt's story, with the internal conflict stemming from past mistakes and unwavering dedication to the task at hand. It could be just me though.

As for the map, CP Busan is already live of Blizzard's Public Test Realm and you're free to check it out. Visually, it seems to draw bits and pieces from pretty much every other Overwatch's CP map, except perhaps for Nepal. I'll reserve the opinion on how the map plays until I've given it a proper go, although we're likely to see some balancing before it arrives on live servers.

Interestingly enough, and even Overwatch's official website seems to have not been aware of this, the Korean community calls Jeff Kaplan "Mr. Jonjon”, which gave me quite a chuckle. While not even Google seems to know how this nickname came about, it's safe to assume that Jeff is as beloved in Korea as he is over here. Yeah I said it and I meant it. Now, follow my lead - three to the one, to the one, to the three...
