It's been almost two years since that first Wonder Woman teaser trailer, which aired at The Game Awards show in 2021. Since then, we haven't heard anything from Monolith Productions, who are the driving force behind this project.
The publisher Warner Bros. have also been quiet, which suggests that the game was very early in development when the teaser trailer dropped. And while fans are hoping that we could finally see more at The Game Awards on December 8, new details have surfaced online in the latest leak.
The leak comes from Nick Baker aka Shpeshal Nick, who is known as a reliable leaker within the gaming industry. Baker has revealed that Wonder Woman will share some similarities with Sony's God of War and Spider-Man 2 but also its older brother Gotham Knights.
Wonder Woman game details leak
Here's a quick breakdown of everything that the insider said about Wonder Woman. Keep in mind that this is just a rumour and not officially confirmed by the developers so some things could change by the time we get to play the game.
- Currently runs at 30 FPS, but they want a 60 FPS performance mode
- Visually similar to Gotham Knights but will probably look better by the time it launches
- You defeat mobs, bosses, mini-bosses, and stuff. There are chests and loot drops like boots, braces, and torso gear with stats (similar to God of War)
- The invisible jet is used for fast travel.
- Jumping, leaping, and fast dashing feel really cool
- The Lariat (The Lasso of Truth) feels good to use and feels similar to Spiderman's webs, you can wrap it around people to slam and even combo them.
One thing that caught our eye is the actual gameplay loop which does indeed sound very similar to your standard action game. You beat mobs in the open world, probably clear out their encampment or two, travel to the next one, fight a boss and repeat. It's awfully similar to many other video games on the market and Monolith's previous Middle-Earth titles.
Sadly, there is nothing in this leak that sounds exciting but we won't jump to any conclusions just yet as this is just an unverified leak and nothing more. Wonder Woman will utilise some more interesting gameplay mechanics like the Nemesis System from Shadow of War, which could lead to some very engaging gameplay loops. Fingers crossed that we get to see more of this superhero action adventure in December.
Wonder Woman currently does not have a release date nor confirmed launch platforms.
