After a commercial and critical disaster which was Gotham Knights, WB Games Montreal seem to be moving to a new project according to the official job listing on their website.
The developer who are also known for Batman: Arkham Origins are hiring a Senior Producer to join their game development team and work on new AAA titles set in the DC Comics universe.
The job listing states that the ideal candidate will oversee all phases and teams of development, from the concept phase through the game's release.
However, there are no juicy details about this new project in the job description so we can only speculate what the game could be. Recently, it's been revealed that Rocksteady could be working on a new Batman game which if true, would mean WB Game Montreal are probably working on something else since it's hard to imagine two WB studios working on two separate Batman games.
One thing that certainly won't be happening is Gotham Knights 2. The first game simply didn't do enough for Warner Bros. who probably expected this to be the start of a new franchise for their studios. However, some very questionable design decisions and poor performance on launch meant Gotham Knights is probably never getting a sequel.
All in all, it will be interesting to see what exactly are WB Games Montreal are working on. Whatever the game is, the studio really need to hit a nail on the head with the new title. Otherwise, we may get another round of layoffs at WB or even a full studio closure. Hopefully, though, it won't come to that.
