If that wasn't pretty clear by now, Warner Bros. have officially confirmed that a sequel for Hogwarts Legacy is happening and it's their prioritiy for the coming years.
"Obviously, a successor to Hogwarts Legacy is one of the biggest priorities in a couple of years down the road" said Warner Bros Discovery CFO, Gunnar Wiedenfels as reported by Wizarding World Direct on social media X.
Earlier this year, we had some job listings which suggeted Avalanche is staffing for the development of the sequel but nothing official has been confirmed. Until now.
So when can we expect this sequel, exactly? Well, as you can see from the quote, even Warner Bros. don't expect the game for the next couple of years.
If I had to guess, I'd say we'll probably start hearing more about Hogwarts Legacy 2 or whatever is called, sometime in 2026 with the release date sometime in 2027.
That would be 3-4 years of development cycle, which is usually how much it takes to develop a sequel for an already established IP.
All in all, I'm pretty excited to hear more about this sequel. While the first game had a pretty disapointing story, I've found that the world building, exploration and gameplays were excellent so I'm keen to get more of the Wizarding World in a couple of years.
Until then, I'm eagerly awaiting the rumoured Director's Cut release, which could introduce new content and improvements, as these special releases usually do.
Hogwarts Legacy is available now on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch.
