EA has announced that they will be cutting 400 jobs from their work force. Which means that 3% of their current employees will be let go. They are also shutting down BioWare after 30+ years of them being in the video game business. There will be more titles getting shut down as well.
Not all EA titles are getting axed though. Bloomberg journalist Jason Schreier reported that EA will be continuing the Battlefield line of games. This should help people who were scared that the title may get discontinued.
EA Will Continue Battlefield Line Of Games
EA is making many changes to there games. Not only are they shutting down BioWare but it's also been reported that a Sims related game is being shutdown as well. So what other titles may be in jeopardy?
From Schreiers article we know that EA will be continuing Battlefield. We don't know if all the games they had planned on releasing will still be released but at least they will continue the franchise.
This article also came out at the time where we may hear more about a Star Wars game. Respawn and DICE are the studios that work on Battlefield so we may see them work on a battle front game again. It would've been almost 10 years since we saw one come out.
Battlefield 6 Needs To Do Good
Another factor that could help Battlefield is how EA decides to handle their most recent release. Battlefield 6 had a great launch and we'll have to see how they can keep the game going.
If EA does decide to keep making Battlefield titles we'll have to see what they do with future updates and possible new games. There hasn't been any word on what EA will do in the near future.
So at least Battlefield won't be getting cut from EA. We will have to see if EA releases any info about their future games and the star wars game.
