In a surprising move, Treyarch completely removed the Duos mode from Call of Duty Black Ops 4's battle royale Blackout. However, after a huge criticism from players, the mode will make a return to PS4 and Xbox One in the upcoming update.
Treyarch latest update for Call of Duty Black Ops 4 has landed today - 10 April 2019, and along with a couple of fresh additions and tweaks to weapons, the update completely removed Duos mode from Blackout.
The developer sneakily removed the mode with only a minor mention in the patch notes, probably hoping that it will go unnoticed, but many players immediately started asking questions about the bizarre change.
Since the removal of Duos is the biggest talking point of the new update, Treyarch officially responded to players' concerns by saying that they wanted to emphasize other playlists.
"Duos was removed from Blackout to encourage gameplay in other playlists. For those asking for the return of Duos, note that the current plan is to restore it tomorrow on PS4 and XboxOne," Treyarch posted on their Twitter.
While Duos is returning to consoles, PC players will have to wait a bit more according to the developer. It is unknown why at the moment, but it probably has to do something with low PC player base.
Even with the free Blackout month currently underway, the matchmaking times can be pretty high and the matches are almost never full, sadly.
As we already mentioned, Duos was removed in the latest update that also introduced a highly popular mode named Infected and brand new Blackout map named Alcatraz on PC and Xbox One. You can find more about Infected in our .
On top of that, Skill Division are now live in League Play and they will now reflect each player’s skill level within the World League Rank system based on their standing in the overall competitive population, in addition to League Play’s existing progressive rank system.
