Treyarch have confirmed that the highly popular multiplayer game mode named Infected is coming to Call of Duty Black Ops 4 today - 09 April 2019. The weekly update will also introduce the new Alcatraz map to Blackout on PC and Xbox One.

Treyarch and Activision confirmed earlier this year that Infected will be added to Call of Duty Black Ops 4 in the near future, but today, the developer and publisher announced that the highly popular game mode is coming in the next update, which is scheduled to drop on 09 April 2019.

In the Infected mode, one player in the lobby is randomly chosen to be the first infected. The remaining players are named survivors and their goal is to hide from or kill the Infected player who must infect the survivors. The player who remains non-infected wins the match that usually lasts five minutes.

The mode was originally introduced in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 as a custom multiplayer mode, and it appeared in numerous Call of Duty games since then. It changed over the years as every instalment added its own flair to the mode.

Of course, just like with previous updates, Infected will also land on PlayStation 4 first while PC and Xbox One players will get their hands on it next week.

Along with the new multiplayer mode, this week's update will also introduce Alcatraz map to battle royale mode Blackout on PC and Xbox One. As you may know, Alcatraz was introduced to Blackout last week on PlayStation 4 and it brings a close-quarters experience to the battle royale.

Furthermore, the update will add Skill Division to the World League Hub. The division will now reflect each player's skill tier in the ranking system, from Competitor all the way up to top 2 per cent in the Master Division.
