EA have officially announced that a brand new Battlefield game is coming soon. The new game seems to be simply titled Battlefield and just like its predecessor, it will be a live service title with many post-launch updates.
When is the next Battlefield game releasing?
EA confirmed that we can expect Battlefield sometime in 2025. If we had to guess, we'd say the next Battlefield is coming in late 2025, probably in October or November. That's the traditional release date for every Battlefield game since Battlefield 3, so unless EA decide to completely change their launch strategy for the franchise, you can expect it to release sometime in late 2025.
Battlefield 2025 gameplay details
The game is going back to its roots, according to EA who confirmed that the series will return to modern warfare setting after World War 1, World War 2 and future warfare in three previous instalments.
We also got a confirmation that EA are ditching the 128-player matches for the classic 64-player experience and the controversial Specialists will also be removed for a traditional class system, which many Battlefield fans will appreciate.
In addition, EA very pretty adamant that the goal with the next title is to bring back their core audience from Battlefield 4 and Battlefield 3, which they consider to be the peak of the franchise.
In terms of game modes, expect a single-player campaign (Motive, Criterion), the classic multiplayer (DICE, Criterion) and a brand new experience (Ripple Effect), which could be a battle royale or extraction mode.
Battlefield Gibraltar map
The first artwork EA shared for the game gave us a glimpse of one of the new maps. Eagled eyed fans discovered that the city in flames, which you can see below, is actually Gibraltar, a British territory on the coast of Spain that is like a bridge between Europe and Asia.
Battlefield 2025 release platforms
The next Battlefield game will be coming to PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, just like its predecessor. We don't expect to see it on last-gen platforms but EA are yet to officially announce the platforms so who knowns, perhaps they decide to release a different version of the game on PS4 and Xbox One, similar to how they did with Battlefield 2042.
