All the fans who were eagerly awaiting any piece of information about the final chapter in the Star Wars: Jedi trilogy can now breathe fresh air because EA Entertainment and Technology president Laura Miele confirmed today at the Investor Day 2024 Conference that Respawn Entertainment is working on the final chapter to complete this trilogy.
“Respawn is working hard to bring the final chapter of this thrilling story to players,” she said.
Whoever played the first two games can confirm that the first game was craving the sequel because the story was left to hang in the air, but the story of the Survivor seemed pretty finished, with almost nothing left to be said or uncovered. This move by EA is somewhat surprising from this point of view, but given the success of the previous Star Wars: Jedi games, a new installment could prove profitable for them.
The game's popularity is further proven by the data Laura Miele shared during the conference, which reflects the number of players who played the Star Wars: Jedi games since the release of Fallen Order. Since 2019, when the first game launched, both titles have collectively been played by over 40 million players—an impressive number, especially considering they are single-player-only titles.
Miele also confirmed that Star Wars: Jedi games earned quite a lot of money for the company. “We have delivered some of the highest quality and best-selling Star Wars games of all time, with over $5 billion in net bookings,” she said.
EA's desire to maximise profits from this franchise is further evidenced by their decision to release Star Wars: Jedi Survivor on the previous generation of consoles, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, despite the game being launched last year exclusively for the new generation.
Still, fans of the series will likely be excited to hear that a new sequel is in the works, set to bring Cal Kestis's story to a conclusion in this highly acclaimed action adventure.
