Leading up to Overwatch 2's April 30 update, developers teased what the patch would bring, sparking immediate excitement among fans as the powerful Orisa was finally set to be nerfed after dominating the tank meta since Season 9 began.
With the patch now released, Orisa has indeed been significantly weakened, particularly in terms of her survivability. Her Javelin Spin ability saw its cooldown increase from 7 to 9 seconds, while the duration of her Fortify ability was reduced by a second, and players now move 20% slower when it's active.
The nerf to Orisa has sparked widespread celebration among fans, not just among Junker Queen mains but also among tank mains who don't play Orisa. However, perhaps the biggest winners from these nerfs are the Reinhardt mains.
All Nerfs and Adjustments to Heroes:
Orisa
- Orisa's Fortify's duration reduced from 4.5 to 3.5 seconds.
- Orisa now moves 20% slower while fortified.
- Her Javelin Spin's cooldown increased from 7 to 9 seconds.
Venture
- Venture's Drill Dash's initial impact damage decreased from 40 to 30.
- Their SMART Excavator's maximum explosion damage decreased from 45 to 40.
- Their Tectonic Shock's ultimate charge cost increased by 10%.
Besides these, here are all the other changes Overwatch 2 has made:
- Streamer Mode now hides player names when blocking someone.
- Non-leader players can no longer select the Requeue button.
- Fixed an issue where several sprays appeared overly bright due to a lighting problem.
- Addressed a lighting issue on the Hanamura (Assault) map. It is now playable in the Assault Arcade mode and Custom Games.
- Corrected a bug where D.Va's pings inserted several zeros into the chat.
- Fixed a bug with Drill Dash where interactions with Doomfist's Rocket Punch or Orisa's Energy Javelin could set it off, sending Venture flying at a high speed.
The meta is likely to change significantly after the major power shift away from Orisa, signaling an end to her dominance. We'll need to watch how the meta evolves, but it's clear that Orisa is no longer at the top.
