Valve may have not paid much attention to Team Fortress 2 over the years, resulting in overpopulation by bots but an update that sparks the player's joy still happens from time to time.
However, it looks like the longtime devotion of the community as well as smaller esports events caught the company's attention and more effort will be put into the old arena shooter in 2023.
As such, it was announced that the game would receive an update-sized update in 2023.
As per the blog post, the update is planned to have items, maps, taunts, unusual effects, war paints and more which sounds fantastic and a proper way to refresh a game that was slowly dying for years to the horde of bots that plague it.
It will require more commitment from the players though as the devs will need Steam Workshop content to incorporate into the base game, which means player creations are needed.
Submissions that make it into the Steam Workshop until May 1, 2023, will be considered for the upcoming update which currently has no name or theme.
One thing that is decided though is that it will arrive at some point during the summer.
