The Japanese tech company Hori will launch a new series of game controllers designed specifically for Steam. However, for some reason they will only sell them in Japan.
The Steam Controller has been out of production for years, but now a new controller is arriving on which we will see the Steam brand logo. Only it won't be a Valve product, but a Japanese manufacturer called Hori.
Officially called the Wireless Horipad for Steam, this controller will work via Bluetooth or wired with the USB-C. The layout of the buttons will be standard, with an asymmetrical position of the sticks.
In addition to the standard buttons, the controller will have two additional buttons on the front and two on the back (all of them will be programmable). It will support gyroscopic control and turbo commands, but unfortunately it won't have any kind of vibration.
The $50 or so price tag doesn't seem too bad, but for now it's only announced to launch in the Japanese market, and there's no word on whether Horipad for Steam will ever be available in Europe.
And in the end, Valve did some research and announced new controller usage statistics on Steam. They say the controller is used by 15% of players on Steam.
Of these, Xbox controllers are used the most (59%), followed by PlayStation controllers (26%). Steam Deck has a share of 10% of users who play with a controller.
