The viral application Banana currently has 859 thousand currently active players and it is very likely that it will overtake Baldur's Gate 3 and enter the top ten most played things in the history of Steam. Among the ten most active games in the history of Steam, you could soon find Banana, which we can't even call a game in the full sense of the word.
If you are not familiar, it is an application where you click on a picture of a banana and after a while a virtual item lands in your Steam Inventory which you can sell and thus earn money to spend within Steam.
A futile reward to most people, but hey - it doesn't take much effort, and the Steam Summer Sale is coming soon, where you'll definitely be able to buy something with your banana-click money.
Therefore, many Steam users flocked to Banana and in the last 17 hours, the application was simultaneously launched on almost 900 thousand user accounts on Steam.
If that number soon increases by another 16 thousand, Banana will overtake the record of Baldur's Gate 3 and enter the top 10 list of the most active games on Steam.
In case it actually happens, the relevance of the list itself will probably come into question because it is impossible to see how many real players are clicking Banana, and how many bots are running to mine the rewards.
Likewise, Banana would be the first thing in the top 10 on Steam that we can't quite define as a classic game. And as such, it already achieved a better result per activity than Call of Duty series, Apex Legends, GTA 5, Destiny 2 and other popular game titles.
