GSC Game World have released a statement on Stalker 2 release date, confirming that the game has been delayed from its Q1 2024 window and will now launch on September 5.

Stalker 2 has been delayed for the fourth time. The developer GSC Game World have just announced that they simply need more time to reach the level of quality and polish that the fans expect from the studio.

The team stated they were absolutely dedicated to releasing the game in Q1 2024 but due to certain technical imperfections that held the game down, they decided to push the release date to September 5, 2024.

GSC Game World are pretty adamant that this is the final release date for their highly-anticipated horror shooter. The game is coming to PC and Xbox Series X|S as previously announced. There are no change of plans on that front.

Interestingly, the dev team also revealed that the fans who played the game at Gamescom 2023 and worldwide at various events, felt that Stalker 2 does indeed feel like a true Stalker game but also noted various issues on the technical side of things.

It's certainly great to see that the dev team listened to the feedback from fans and decided to push the game further into 2024.

Hopefully, this is the last Stalker 2 delay as we're very excited to finally play it

Here is GSC Game World's statement on Stalker 2 release date:

"Throughout the frankly challenging development process, time was of the team's main essence. Seeing the scope of polishing and understanding the limits of the players’ patience, GSC was absolutely dedicated to releasing the game in Q1 2024. That, however, doesn’t change the fact that at the beginning of this year, certain technical imperfections still hold S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 below the expected standards for the final experience the fans are waiting for.

This extended journey to the release will be supported with much more content from the game to be shared later this year."

All in all, this does not change anything for us as we're still very excited to see more of Stalker 2, which is something that GSC promised in the statement.

Hopefully, the team will manage to fix most of the issues by the time we're close to the newly confirmed release date.
