GSC Game World has just announced an updated set of PC system requirements for the game Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl, and it is immediately obvious that this will take some very serious hardware to enjoy the game in earnest.
This survival horror promised to take players on a deep journey into a perilous, radioactive, post-apocalyptic world, now requires major system upgrades compared to earlier recommendations.
Major changes include: storage size, jumping from 150GB to 160GB-which would indicate high-quality assets and expansive content; the minimum RAM requirement has been upped from 8GB to 16GB, which is a big increase that would indicate that even on the lower settings, this game requires much more memory.
While the original "recommended" settings aimed for 1080p at 60 FPS, the latest update has redefined "high" settings as the new recommended standard, aiming for 1440p at 60 FPS.
Here are detailed comparisons of the new system requirements for different settings:
Low settings
Players aiming for 1080p at 30 FPS will need a minimum of an Intel Core i7-7700K or AMD Ryzen 5 1600X processor, paired with an Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060 6GB or AMD Radeon RX 580 8GB GPU. The RAM requirement is 16GB, and 160GB of SSD storage is necessary.
Medium settings
For a smoother 1080p experience at 60 FPS, an Intel Core i7-9700K or AMD Ryzen 7 3700X processor is required, along with an Nvidia RTX 2070 Super / RTX 4060 or AMD RX 5700 XT. RAM remains at 16GB, with 160GB of SSD storage.
High settings
To achieve 1440p at 60 FPS, players will need more power, with an Intel Core i7-11700 or AMD Ryzen 7 5800X, and either an Nvidia RTX 3070 Ti / RTX 4070 or AMD RX 6800 XT. This setting requires 32GB of RAM and 160GB of SSD space.
Epic settings
For those aiming for 4K at 60+ FPS, the recommended hardware includes an Intel Core i7-13700KF or AMD Ryzen 7 7700X, with a GPU of Nvidia RTX 4080 or AMD RX 7900 XTX. RAM remains at 32GB, and SSD storage is 160GB.
All this means the updated requirements just show how ambitious this game is going to be and really pushes the in-game system to the limit. With that in mind, Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl can be an exciting yet hardware-intensive experience.
