Rebellion Developments have posted a development update video that details their future work recently. The highlight is the announcement of Sniper Elite 5, but there is also the debut on Nintendo Switch and remasters of older titles.
Rebellion Developments have announced that they are actively working on a sequel for Sniper Elite 4, but the new title is still in early development and no new info should be expected for about one year. Jason Kingsley, the CEO of Rebellion, only said that the team is committed to bringing the "latest, greatest Sniper Elite experience" which can either sound as a beautiful promise or a regular sales pitch.
The development update was filled to the brim with announcements though and the new game in the works is far from being the only Sniper Elite news. Sniper Elite V2 is being remastered for all modern systems and will feature new playable characters, a frame-by-frame photo mode as well as HDR and 4K support.
All of the new features are welcome additions but Kingsley also mentioned the game will come packed with all the previously available DLC, in one package. Sniper Elite V2 will be available on PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch. This will be the first time a Sniper Elite game will be available on Nintendo's platform.
Switch users will be treated to Sniper Elite 3 Ultimate Edition, which will also feature all DLC in one package. There is no exact release date for either of the titles, but as previously mentioned, Sniper Elite V2 Remastered will be the series' first outing on Switch so expect that one to come first. Both releases are scheduled for 2019 so the wait shouldn't be too long.
VR enthusiasts will not be left out as a Sniper Elite VR game is also under development that currently has no available details. You can still catch a glimpse of gameplay on the trailer above though. It will be a busy period for Rebellion, but precision rifle castrators across various platforms are sure to have some good times soon with the x-ray system.
