Rare announced they will be moving the release date of Season 7 in Sea of Thieves but the wait won't be that long.
Sea of Thieves was supposed to get Season 7 on July 21, 2022, which is just around the corner now but that will not be the case as the team hit a snag with development issues they didn't predict.
In the announcement about the delay, Rare noted that an update which brings fundamental changes to Sea of Thieves has "a lot of hidden work to be done in the background" and the devs were realising the scope of it as the release day was coming closer.
Eventually, they had to push the update back and the new release date for SoT Season 7 is August 4, 2022. The team will spend the extra two weeks on polishing the update and bringing the players a better experience but it's not excluded that additional hotfixes and minor updates will have to follow - it is a live service game after all.
In any case, the additional two weeks of may suck but it is what it is. When the update arrives, however, players will have two weeks to get accustomed to it and grind out anything they might desire, as August 18 will bring the next adventure, called A Hunter's Cry.
