CD Projekt Red is bleeding talent again and one of the latest departures includes the lead quest designer for Cyberpunk 2077.
Cyberpunk 2077 had many shortcomings and quite frankly - disasters, but writing and quest design certainly didn't count among them. In fact, besides the gorgeous graphics, it's primarily these two aspects that are serving as the saving grace for the game.
It's probably for this reason that the lead quest designer, Mateusz Tomaszkiewicz, has been scouted and eventually scooped up by Riot Games. He will continue what is probably similar work in the American company, albeit on the MMO that is currently in development.
The nature of an MMO is probably going to be a new challenge but then again, this is a highly talented narrative designer whose work was incorporated in The Witcher, Thronebreaker and eventually CP2077.
This is also not the first time CD Projekt Red is losing a high profile developer as they have been bleeding talent for over a decade now. On the flip side, this didn't prove to be a disaster for the devs so far as their games kept getting more and more popular. CP2077 is certainly a bump in that road and it remains to be seen how the Polish devs will recover from it.
