Sci-fi mystery action adventure Control has sold 3.6 million copies as of December 31, 2022, say Remedy, while over 16.5 million players in total played the game thanks to Game Pass and PS Plus.
Remedy's supernatural action adventure shooter Control has reached a major sales milestone. This critically acclaimed third-person game has sold over 3.6 million copies since it's launch, the developer announced in their 2022 annual report.
Last time Remedy revealed the sales data for Control was in November 2022, when they confirmed a total of 3 million sold units, which means Control managed to sell over 600,000 units in less than two months, which is certainly impressive.
Additionally, Remedy also announced that roughly 16.5 million players worldwide have played their critically acclaimed title thanks to PlayStation Plus, Xbox Game Pass and Epic Games Store's freebie promo.
It's certainly not surprising to see Control attracting such a large number of players as its story, setting and combat have been universally praised by both critics and players. It's one of those unique titles that we wholeheartedly recommend even if shooters are not your thing.
Remedy and publisher 505 have already confirmed plans for a big-budget sequel and a spin-off PvE game. Both of these are currently in early development at Remedy so don't expect to see them anytime soon.
Control is available now on PC , PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S .
