Erangel, the first PUBG map is getting some visual improvements and balancing changes, the developers have confirmed in the latest blog post. The update arrives today on test servers and it's scheduled for full release later this summer.
PUBG Corp. the development team behind the second biggest battle royale game in the world - PlayerUnknwon Battlegrounds - have announced some new changes to the game's iconic map Erangel.
Given that Erangel is the first map in PUBG, it's inevitable that after some time it will start to look a bit outdated and the developers plan to introduce some visual improvements along with balancing changes, to make the map more appealing and modern-looking, just like more recent maps Sanhok and Vikendi.
As seen in the trailer, the update will introduce new building styles, more realistic scenery and terrain, some new and changed areas within the map including the iconic Prison, Sosnovka Military Base and Mylta Power Plant locations.
Furthermore, the devs will test settings for an updated Blue Zone which includes faster timings throughout the match, reduced delay in the earlier phase, reduced size of the safe zone in the earlier phase, reduced speed in the early and middle phases, slightly increased damage in later phase and reduced delay in the last phase.
The devs hope that these changes will help Erangel feel more up-to-date based on "emerging playstyles and tactics".
As with previous stages of the Erangel map update, these tweaks and improvements will be coming to the Test Server first, to allow players to test map stability, check out all the updates and provide feedback before the update arrives on live servers sometime this Summer.
The update will be introduced on Test Servers in two phases. The first one goes live today - 06 June and will run until 08 June 2019 while the second test will start on 08 June and will run until 11 June 2019.
