Ubisoft decided to postpone the launch of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time remake by two months but it remains to be seen if it will bring improvements.
Prince of Persia is one of the most beloved franchises, with a huge fan following. As such, it was no surprise that the trailer for the remake of Sands of Time garnered so much attention and it's even less surprising that it got hit with so much negative feedback, given how little was changed or upgraded.
It is for this reason that fans will probably take the delay as a positive sign, in hopes of Ubisoft producing a remake that could woo the fanbase. However, the official statement mentions a different reason - the problems over the course of 2020 and the change to work from home that could negatively affect the productivity of the developers.
The info is coming from Ubisoft's Czech account of Facebook that seems to have jumped the gun and released the info early. In it, the company asked fans for patience as they need more time to complete the game. As a consequence, the release date will be moved to March 18, 2021, which is roughly two months after the original release date of January 21, 2021.
Despite not citing the negative fan reaction to the trailer, Ubisoft did acknowledge the fault in presentation when they stated they want to "ensure [they] deliver a game you like".
