Phoenix Point is officially no longer exclusive to Epic Games Store as Microsoft Store started selling the game as well. Furthermore, there is no need to purchase it at all since it's featured in Xbox Game Pass for PC beta.
Snapshot Games' Phoenix Point caught a lot of flak after the announcement that the game would be exclusive to Epic Games despite being funded on Kickstarter originally. Those who would prefer to bypass Epic Games' store and launcher can now do so, with similar tools from Microsoft.
The game finally became available on MS store recently after the developers announced they dropped the ball which resulted in a release date delay. Potential players can get it for $39.99 / €39.99 as a digital purchase or just forego buying a license entirely and subscribe to Xbox Game Pass for PC. Considering this option can be utilised at a price as low as one US dollar per month, it would be safe to say players should give it a whirl before deciding to commit to a full purchase.
This is especially true because Phoenix Point was not exactly met with stellar reviews. While it can be easily seen as the deeper version of XCOM: Enemy Unknown and XCOM 2, players have run into numerous glitches and balancing issues that made it unenjoyable for them. On the flip side, there are players who thoroughly enjoyed what Phoenix Point has to offer and are defending the game's honour.
Since it's such a polarizing title, it just sounds better to have trial via Game Pass first and see for yourself whether it's worth your time.
Considering the subscription gives access to many other games, including the newly added The Witcher 3 and Pillars of Eternity, it's safe to say that one dollar won't be wasted if it turns out Phoenix Point is not your cup of tea.
