Pearl Abyss say Crimson Desert development is taking longer than expected but the whole process is going smoothly so far.
Stunning open-world RPG Crimson Desert was supposed to launch in 2021 but developer Pearl Abyss decided to delay the game to an unannounced date a couple of months ago.
Since then, we didn't get any details about this Black Desert spin-off but it looks like that's about to change soon.
During Pearl Abyss' latest earnings call , the developer confirmed that Crimson Desert development is going smoothly, reassuring fans that the game is still pretty much coming.
Pearl Abyss said Crimson Desert development is taking longer than expected due to the high expectations of both players and the developers working on the game.
The good news is that we'll finally get to see the results of all the hard work this year when Pearl Abyss plan to showcase brand new gameplay.
The gameplay footage will be longer than ten minutes and Pearl Abyss are still deciding when and where to show it.
Pearl Abyss also promised to share more details about the release date closer to the actual release. While that may sound disappointing to some fans, the developer say that the wait will be worth it as Crimson Desert is already a wonderful and fun experience.
For now, we'll have to take their word for it but hopefully, we'll get to see the game in action soon so we can judge for ourselves if Crimson Desert looks "fun and wonderful". The earlier gameplay certainly looked stunning but not without some serious performance issues.
Crimson Desert is confirmed to be coming to PC and consoles. We still don't know if the game will be released on last-gen but given that Pearl Abyss already said they prefer the current-gen consoles, it's safe to assume they will focus only on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S consoles.
