Black Desert Online developer Pearl Abyss have shared some brand new details about Crimson Desert, their upcoming MMORPG. The game will be focused on PvE players and supports many modern technologies such as ray tracing and HDR.
Earlier this month, the developer Pearl Abyss announced several new games, including a brand new MMORPG named Crimson Desert. It's a proper next-generation title from the Korean developers and by the looks of it, it could also be one of the prettiest MMORPGs of all time.
Of course, fancy-looking graphics are nothing new for Pearl Abyss who developed Black Desert Online, an MMORPG with unique combat and hands down, best visuals in the genre. However, the devs want to take another huge step and deliver a completely breathtaking experience with their new game.
In an interview with , Jason Jung, the Lead Producer for Crimson Desert talked about some of the next-gen features that Crimson Desert will support once it arrives in 2020. When it comes to visuals, Crimson Desert should become the first MMORPG to support ray tracing and HDR.
"[Crimson Desert will support] ray tracing, HDR, TAA, all of it, SSAO, the rendering pipeline, we fully support that and ray tracing is basic for us. I’m not a programmer, so I cannot say the exact name of the tech that we use, but it’s cool!"
On top of this, the game will arrive with another neat, next-gen feature - cross-platform play. Jung did not confirm if the game will arrive to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One but the did say that he prefers the next-generation consoles so it shouldn't be surprising if Crimson Desert released only on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Project Scarlett.
He also confirmed that Google Stadia is a really interesting option for the developers and that they are monitoring the situation closely.
Crimson Desert will have a beta test in 2020 while the release date is yet to be confirmed.
