Following the announcement of the Overwatch 2 League's closure, OWCS emerged as it's replacement, offering a brand-new open circuit that anybody could participate in and try their luck at perhaps earning a spot at an international LAN.
Now that the eight qualifying teams have been selected, the Dallas Major is scheduled as the very first international LAN in the newly established circuit. Notable OWL rosters, reputable organizations, and even a free-agent squad have made the cut.
The OWCS Dallas Major 2024 Details
Here is everything we know so far:
Venue and Starting Date
The OWCS Dallas Major will take place during DreamHack Dallas from May 31 to June 2.All eight qualified teams will be arranged to form a double-elimination bracket according to the tournament rules.
OWCS 2024 Format
The Grand Finals will be the only Bo7 match; all other matches will be Bo5.
OWCS 2024 Prize Pool
The OWCS Dallas Major's whole prize budget has not yet been disclosed, however it has been revealed that, similar to the Overwatch World Cup in 2023, a skin has been made available to help raise money for it.
It's unclear if Blizzard or ESL are going to match the skin's contribution to the prize pool, or if the skin will cover the entire amount.For context, the crowdfunding skin contributed $513,162 to the OWWC prize pool.
Bonus: How to Get the OWCS 2024 Drops?
Overwatch 2 players must link their Battle.net accounts to either Twitch or YouTube, depending on which streaming service they prefer. Now follow these steps:
- Log into Twitch or YouTube.
- Navigate to Settings.
- Now scroll down to access the Connected Accounts.
- Click on your Battle.net username.
- Select "Allow."
- Now begin to watch the official broadcast.
A total of eight teams have earned a spot in the OWCS Dallas Major. There are two teams from Asia, three from EMEA, and three from North America. Student of the Game will be the unsigned free-agent team that has qualified, and Toronto Defiant is the only current OWL squad playing in the OWCS following the league's demise.
