After the May 14 update, Overwatch 2 has encountered a bug that is causing players' Mythic skins to disappear from their accounts, both within the menus and during gameplay. This issue has been traced back to the skins triggering player disconnections from games.
Despite the patch's intention to shake up gameplay and enhance balance, it seems to have inadvertently caused frustration for many fans. So Overwatch made a social media post on X announcing that Mythic skins are being temporarily disabled.
What causes the bug?
Upon logging into their accounts, numerous Overwatch 2 players discovered that their Mythic skins had vanished from their profiles. Reports quickly circulated on the subreddit, with several users expressing confusion and concern over the disappearance of their Mythic skins. One user described their experience: "I went to the hero gallery, and they just don't show up. It defaults to Overwatch 2 skins."
Another player noted that although the Mythic shop indicates they already own the skins, they are unable to equip them. Additionally, some users mentioned that the skins are not even visible in the shop.
How did Blizzard react to this?
Blizzard has since addressed the issue, stating that the skins were disabled due to connectivity issues experienced by players. The intentional disabling of Mythic skins has also led to the temporary closure of the Mythic store, as these skins were causing disruptions to gameplay.
While players will eventually regain access to their Mythic skins, no specific timeline for resolving the issue has been provided. Despite this setback, Overwatch 2 remains fully playable without these skins.The timing of this issue is unfortunate, coinciding with the launch of an update introducing a collaboration of Porsche and Overwatch 2.
However, many players are prioritizing the resolution of the Mythic skin problem before delving into the new content, with one individual expressing reluctance to play until their skins are restored: "I don't even wanna play until I know I'll get them back."
