One of the selling points for Overwatch 2, the PvE mode, has been severely degraded and the content draught was basically for nothing.

Overwatch suffered a major content draught that lasted for years before Overwatch 2 dropped in the latter half of 2022 and everyone accepted the delays because Blizzard was apparently adding a huge PvE element into the game.

Overwatch 2 then came and PvE was still not there but it would supposedly arrive later.

On May 16, 2023, the devs stated this would not be the case and all that waiting time was practically for nothing.

During the developer stream that elaborated on the future of the game, Blizzard stated it's clear they "can't deliver on that original vision for PvE that was shown in 2019".

Instead, some of the work they completed will be incorporated into events and smaller story pieces told through PvE missions, along the lines of Archives events from the original game.

On top of that, the PvE progression has been scrapped completely, meaning the talent trees will not appear and the hero skill customisation, like Brigitte and Reinhardt combining their shields, will not come to the game.

Well, they might appear in a deranged form, during April's Fools events, but nothing more than that. In the end, Overwatch 2 turned out to be just an excuse to introduce a more aggressive monetisation system.
