Battle royale's boom in 2018 saw the advent of Fortnite and Apex Legends one year later while PUBG was already around and that is pretty much where the market stopped being welcoming to any other games in the genre.
A pile of other battle royales popped up and they have all either closed the doors already or are on their way out, with Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodhunt being the latest in a long line.
On May 15, 2023, roughly one year after launch, the devs announced the game would cease development after the next update.
The reason is simple - the game failed to reach critical mass that would make it sustainable and the team has to move on to other projects.
However, the game will remain playable and will not shut down immediately. Even the microtransactions will remain available for months, with the currency purchases getting the sunset treatment on September 26, 2023.
In the meantime, the players will get additional ways to earn in-game currency in order to unlock items faster and experience the things they've been grinding for.
Battle royale fans are now left with one option less, with the aforementioned trio being the only stable games around.
