Overwatch fans weren't exactly willing to accept rumours about a major OW2 delay but now that the info is official, they are in for a nasty disappointment.
Blizzard is running through what is possibly the roughest patch since the company's inception as the air is no longer filled with anticipation or good news for their upcoming releases but harassment and sexual abuse are flying around like there is no tomorrow.
The trend is going to continue for at least a year because the company announced some of their biggest upcoming titles are no longer headed for a 2022 release. This information is coming from the Activision Blizzard earnings report where one slide addressed delays for both Overwatch 2 and Diablo 4.
While not explicitly stated, the wording strongly implies neither of these titles will see a 2022 launch. This information was initially leaked in August 2021 but it was a rumour at the time and not many were willing to believe Overwatch is going to be light on content for another year. As a result, the game will run without a new hero for about three years by the time OW2 arrives.
The only way Overwatch gets a new hero is if Blizzard reverses the decision not to introduce any roster additions before the sequel but from the information available thus far, this will not be the case.
OW fans are already not happy with the delays of OW2 and it remains to be seen how much of the community will remain by the time OW2 rolls around.
