The Nioh 3 demo is now available on Steam, offering multiplayer support and save transfer to the full game, though it requires over 80GB of storage.

Fans can now get an early look at Nioh 3 ahead of its full release later this year, as developer Koei Tecmo has released a demo on Steam.

The publisher says players will be able to carry over their progress from the demo when Nioh 3 launches, but there's a big problem here - the demo requires an absurd amount of space.

Released today, the Nioh 3 demo for PC is free to download on Steam. The demo features the beginning portion of the action RPG, beginning at the game's start. Developers say everything you complete in the demo will carry forward when you play Nioh 3.

What’s Included in the Nioh 3 Demo

This demo isn’t designed to be a five-minute sampler or vertical slice. Gamers can expect to play quite a bit of Nioh 3 in the demo, which features:

  • The first couple of stages from Nioh 3 full game
  • Save files carrying over into the full game
  • Online multiplayer for up to 3 people
  • Special reward for completing the demo before February 15

Anyone who beats the demo before then will earn the Twin-Snake Helmet, which you can equip once Nioh 3 launches.

Storage Requirements Are No Joke

EitherPlayers will want to clear some space before downloading the Nioh 3 demo, as it’s reported to take up over 80GB of free storage. That’s right on par with the size of some full AAA games these days.

To give some perspective, my hard drive is currently sitting at several full RPGs with all expansions installed and I’m hovering right around that hundo mark. While Koei Tecmo has never been afraid to ask players for giant downloads for demos, Nioh 3’s latest is especially egregious, so free up that SSD space.
