Koei Tecmo and Team Ninja have officially announced that Nioh 3 is in development. Longtime fans of the dark samurai action RPG series have another release to mark on their calendars, as the highly-anticipated sequel will release on February 6, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and PC via Steam.
Tokugawa Takechiyo, the rightful heir to the shogunate, is engaged in a fierce battle against his younger brother Kunimatsu, who has allied with dark forces to seize power for himself. Supernatural battle, a time-spanning journey, and appearances by some of Japan’s most renowned historic legends all promise that Nioh 3 will be the most ambitious entry in the franchise yet.
Pre-orders for Nioh 3 are now live on both PlayStation 5 and Steam with multiple editions and bonuses available for early purchasers. Fans will have no shortage of options when it comes to selecting their preferred bonuses, from Deluxe content to a SteelBook version.
Nioh 3 Release Date and Platforms
Nioh 3 will be released worldwide on February 6, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and PC (through Steam). The game will have Japanese and English voiceovers, as well as subtitle support in English, French, Italian, German, and Spanish.
Story and Setting
Players will assume the role of Tokugawa Takechiyo, a young heir of the Sengoku period betrayed by his brother, Kunimatsu.
Kunimatsu plots to take his position with the aid of yokai, but Takechiyo is protected by a guardian spirit, Kusanagi, as he travels between several different times and places, such as Edo Castle, Tōtōmi and Kyoto (during the Heian period). The story will be on a much larger scale than in the previous games.
Pre-Order Editions and Bonuses
Players have several editions to choose from:
- Standard Edition – Base game
- Digital Deluxe Edition – Base game, pre-order bonuses (“Hellfire Warrior Armor set,” “Hellfire Ninja Attire set,” “Scampuss Furball Netsuke Charm”), exclusive weapons, a Season Pass with two DLCs, and bonus accessories
- SteelBook Edition – Base game plus two exclusive DLCs in a collectible SteelBook case
Pre-orders for the PlayStation and Steam versions will unlock an additional Mercenary. All pre-orders, regardless of platform, will also include an early purchase bonus of limited duration. The Season Pass will be available for purchase separately by players looking to access future content after launch.
