New World - Congratulations, now you will be killing this mob for half an hour

Amazon Games announced that New World is entering another testing phase soon as the release date nears.

New World Alpha testing is continuing and this phase will last until July 6, 2021. When it concludes, there will be a two-week break before we get to the Closed Beta, which is scheduled for July 20.

This information is coming straight from the dev update , which you can check out in the video form below or on the official website on the provided link. Alternatively, you can stick around for the rest of the highlights in this article.

Amazon Games mentioned that their May update was the last major one when it comes to content and features before the official launch, scheduled for August 31, and the updates going forward will be aimed at bug fixes, polishing and performance improvements.

One interesting takeaway from both the text update and the YouTube presentation from the game director, Scot Lane, mention that the launch will only be Day 1 for the title and that more updates and features are coming in the future.

Considering that New World is an MMO, these were a given but now that the devs explicitly mentioned that particular part, the fans are getting paranoid about the state of the game they will get at launch.

Maybe it's nothing and just an attempt to reassure the players the game wouldn't be abandoned like Crucible was but the simple sentence left a speck of doubt in the future players' minds.
