Destiny is coming to mobile in a big way. NetEase Games has officially announced Destiny: Rising, which is releasing worldwide on August 28 for both Android and iOS devices.
Pre-registration is open now in the App Store or Google Play and will net milestone-based rewards upon the game’s launch. The mobile FPS already boasts over 5 million pre-registrations, and it seems like it will be one of the biggest mobile game launches of all time.
Destiny: Rising was built from the ground up to be a mobile game and a standalone entry in the Destiny franchise. It features PvE and PvP gameplay, as well as a roguelike solo mode.
All the major game modes are here, including world events, six-player co-op missions, third-person combat scenarios, and more. You’ll also have fully-customizable gear as you tackle Destiny’s signature endgame content, including Crucible PvPvE arenas.
Gameplay Features
Destiny: Rising also makes sure to pick up where the franchise’s lore left off, while at the same time being able to play as characters from the Destiny universe in its own right.
It takes place after a significant event called The Collapse, and a new cast of characters to join you in the adventure. In Destiny: Rising, players will play as a Lightbearer of a subclass called “The Wolf” while making use of unique Relics, new character archetypes and Super abilities that play into shooter combat and RPG-style stats.
- PvE and PvP modes, including roguelike solo runs, six-player co-op missions, and combat arenas.
- Legendary Relics and Supers to customize your character’s ability loadouts.
- Play as familiar Guardians, including Ikora Rey and Iron Lord Jolder, and discover new characters like “The Wolf.”
- Encounter a new timeline separate from Destiny 2.
- Craft custom gear, armor sets, and weapons with new and unique rarities, including a new Mythic tier and “Primary” and “Power” rarities.
Destiny: Rising comes from NetEase Games, which has revealed that the mobile FPS has been in closed alpha testing for a long time, and has also been developed in close contact with Bungie to make sure it fits the feel of the Destiny series.
This means it won’t affect or play into the core Destiny timeline, but will offer an experience similar in quality and scale with the long-running franchise but adapted for the mobile platform.
You can pre-register for Destiny: Rising and check out the trailer right now in your App Store or Google Play, or on NetEase Games’ official website.
