On the official IGN YouTube channel, a new video of the upcoming Mafia: The Old Country has been released. The video in question is nine minutes long and showcases pieces of the "Villa" mission in the game's chapter five, featuring a lot of stealth and some shooting action.
The video showcases content that is fairly generic, obviously avoiding all spoilers since some cutscenes have been intentionally cut out. However, the things we can notice can be a bit concerning, or at least they are for the people commenting below the video. Most complaints go to the sound design, or more precisely, the sounds of the footsteps.
One user commented that the footsteps sound like a cow chewing grass, and once you hear it, you cannot unhear it. We hope the developers will see to this until the game is out, and it will get patched out.
Apart from some problems, the clip showcases a drive through the beautiful Italian countryside to where the mission takes place. According to the layout of the controls, the video is clipped on the PlayStation 5, showcasing some impressive graphics and the portrayal of Sicily during the 1900s.
For all the uninformed, Mafia: The Old Country is a prequel to all Mafia games, taking place in Italy, before all the events from the previous games. As the developers said, this Mafia game will be a more linear and story-driven title, focusing more on action and less on the stuff characteristic of open-world games.
Mafia: The Old Country is set to be released on August 8, 2025, for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S|X, and PC.
