The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered is arguably one of the most well-known PlayStation titles of the past few years. Since its release in 2020, the game has evolved into a more refined experience with additional quality-of-life changes.
In 2024, Naughty Dog released an official remaster of the game with new game modes and additional content to let players get a different shot at the game. Now, a year after the remastered version, Naughty Dog has released a chronological mode for the game to let players enjoy the game in a new way.
The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered's New Chronological Experience
Recently, Naughty Dog has revealed the new chronological mode for The Last of Us Part 2. The new mode gives players a new angle on Abby and Ellie's story.
The new chronological mode is a game changer for experiencing The Last of Us in a new way. In this new mode, the story arcs of Abby and Ellie are playable in a chronological order rather than the usual switching between them.
After the game's release, we were unfortunately introduced to Joel's death at the hands of Abby, which led to players disliking a certain part of the game.
While Naughty Dog wanted to let players know how similar Ellie and Abby are by nature, their way of delivering the story remains controversial with the game's fan base. The new chronological mode of the game can hopefully simplify the big blow of the story.
The chronological experience comes to the game with a new free update for PS5 and PC players today, bringing with it new unlockable skins and trophies. Players who jump into the new game mode will unlock Joel dressed as Nathan Drake and Tommy as Sam Drake for the No Return game mode.
