It appears that NetEase and 24 Entertainment did their due diligence with the console port of Naraka: Bladepoint as the controller features look like everything a player could ask for.

Naraka: Bladepoint is arriving on Xbox Series X/S systems on June 23, 2022, with Xbox One and Xbox One X following at a later date. Naturally, this begged the question about the adaptation of control schemes for consoles and while NetEase already announced a list of the features to be expected, the team elaborated a bit further during our interview session.

First, the list of features on the controller includes:

  • aim assist
    • abilities, weapons + grapple partially
  • lock-on
  • radial menu
  • animation cancels
  • map optimised for the control scheme (quick zoom in and out)

In the case of aim assist, the game will prioritise targeting other heroes, which are the enemy players. It will pop up whenever you are trying to target them with a ranged weapon, grappling hook or a directional ability.

"Yes, because in the fight there is a lot of complex scenarios and we need to understand that if you want to aim at a player or if you just wanted to aim at, let's say, ground around that player. The ultimate goal here is to provide clever augment that reads your mind and allows players to shape any kind of movement they want." ~Bingo

Additionally, players using a controller can lock onto enemies for better tracking in duels but you might want to avoid using the feature in group fights but this is solely for the purpose of camera movement, it does not provide additional help in aiming weapons or abilities.

Overall, it looks like controller players will feel right at home with Naraka: Bladepoint even if they match with PC players.
