NetherRealm confirmed that players will be able to spend real-world money in Mortal Kombat 11 but these purchases will not affect the gameplay. Mortal Kombat 11 cosmetics will include skins, gear, intro animations and easy fatalities.

Just over a week is left before we finally get our hands on NetherRealm's much anticipated Mortal Kombat 11. As we get closer to the release date, the devs have been revealing a lot of new details about the game, including , and more. Today, we have the first info on Mortal Kombat 11's microtransactions which will be in the game, NetherRealm officially confirmed.

WarnerBros. and NetherRealm will offer players a lot of additional content which can be bought with real-world money but they made it clear that these won't affect gameplay or give players an advantage in any way. Mortal Kombat 11 will have microtransactions for cosmetics only, including skins and gear items for fighters, intro animations and easy fatalities.

These items will require an in-game currency called time crystals which can be purchased will real-world money. NetherRealm Studios also said that every single item that can be purchased can also be unlocked for free by simply playing the game, and that time crystals are just a shortcut for those who want some cool cosmetic but don't have the time to grind for it.

"Nothing in the game requires time crystals. You can play the whole game, unlock all the stuff there, without ever dealing with time crystals. If you want, you can get time crystals and shortcut your way to different things," the game's produced Shaun Himmerick said in the latest Kombat Kast.

The big question here is just how much time will players have to spend playing to get some of these items. Hopefully, the experience points gain is well balanced so players who don't like to spend additional money on cosmetics, won't have to do so.
