Wales Interactive have announced that you can check into the survival horror of Maid of Sker on Steam, Xbox One and PlayStation 4 in June 2020. Owners of Nintendo Switch will have to wait for their reservations until October 2020.
Fans of Welsh folklore will be delighted by their stay at the Hotel Sker. The individual adventures at the hotel will have multiple ways of playing out but they will all depend on your ability to navigate its halls and grounds and employ no-weapon survival tactics.
Maid of Sker is the brainchild of the folks over at Wales Interactive and the writing talent behind Don’t Knock Twice and SOMA. The title drew its inspiration from the folk story of Elisabeth Williams - the tragic tale of a Welsh woman in the 1800s losing her life after her father locks her away in her room to die of heartbreak.
The writers also added some psychological, gothic and British horror to the grim account.
Tia Kalmaru is lending her voice to the game to recreate Welsh hymns in theme with Maid of Sker’s terrifying tone. The re-imagined famous Welsh hymns include:
- Calon Lân (A Pure Heart)
- Suo-Gân (Welsh Lullaby)
- Ar Hyd Y Nos (All Through the Night)
Maid of Sker’s core survival mechanic is the 3D sound-based AI system. The game will also include visuals featuring 4k uncapped on PC and enhancements on PS4 Pro and Xbox One X.
