Xbox marketing director for the Gears of War franchise Guy Welch has debunked the recent rumours regarding the Gears Ultimate Collection and Gears 6 logos.
Earlier this week, Xbox insider Nick Baker aka Shpeshal Nick shared a screenshot of alleged Gears Ultimate Collection and Gears 6 logos. The screenshot, which you can see below features the usual Gears font with the red skull and the gear logo. Baker revealed the photo during the Xbox Era podcast , stating that he's not sure if the image is real and that the person who sent him the photo can't also be certain of its legitimacy.
The logos spread over social media and gaming forums like wildfire, fueling speculation about the rumoured Gears Collection . However, the image is confirmed to be fake by the Xbox marketing director for the Gears of War franchise Guy Welch on Twitter.
Welch replied to a news post about the logos , simply tweeting "Fake News", which is more than enough to put this one to bed forever. Now, this doesn't mean that Gears Collection and Gears 6 don't exist at all. It's just that this particular image with the logos is not real in any way.
It's safe to assume that The Coalition are currently working on the next Gears of War game and there's also the dev Linkedin profile that confirmed a new IP is in the works . This new IP would be a smaller game apparently, as the studio get to know the advantages of Unreal Engine 5.
As for the Gears Collection, this is just a rumour at this point and nothing more. It was first revealed by Nick Baker who claimed that the Gears of War franchise will be getting the Master Chief Collection treatment, meaning better visuals and other improvements for older Gears of War games.
Whether or not it's true, time will tell. If such a project indeed exists, don't expect to hear about it anytime soon since it's very early in production according to Baker.
