The developer of beloved Gears of War series, The Coalition, are seemingly working on a brand new IP alongside Gears. The game has been in development for at least six months.
Gears of War franchise has been the focus for The Coalition for many many years but it looks like the time has come for the studio to try something completely new.
Rumours about The Coalition's brand new project, which would be a smaller game as the team is switching to Unreal Engine 5, have surfaced earlier this year, but Xbox have never officially confirmed that Gears developers would be taking on such a project.
However, it seems like The Coalition are indeed working on a brand new franchise. At least that's what Pedro Camacho D'Andrea's LinkedIn profile suggests.
Pedro is a Multiplayer Level Designer at The Coalition and according to the description on his profile, the studio are working on a brand new IP. Pedro has been on the project since February 2021 so the game is in development for at least six months.
Of course, it's also possible that The Coalition have been working on this title even longer but we don't have solid info that would confirm this.
The Coalition have been teasing their brand new Unreal Engine 5 tech demo, which is set to be fully showcased at Game Developers Conference (GDC) next week - July 20, 2021.
Could these be the scenes from The Coalition's new game? Well, it's hard to say but hopefully we won't have to wait years and years to find out.
